Fall Fundraiser at the Quarryhill Botanical Garden
You are invited to join the Climate Protection Campaign on Saturday, October 2nd to discover a hidden gem in Sonoma County, the beautiful Quarryhill Botanical Garden. Enjoy a guided tour of one of the largest collections of wild-collected Asian plants in the world and learn from expert speakers how a changing climate will impact the place we live.

Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes for hiking. We will be dining outdoors, so dress in layers.

Our Speakers
Dr. Lisa Micheli is presently working with the North Bay Watershed Association and the USGS to develop watershed-scale climate projections for a range of future climate scenarios. She will discuss some of the preliminary results of this work for the Sonoma Valley and the region in terms of potential changes to hydrology and secondary impacts to local flora and fauna. She will also discuss the benefits of climate mitigation in terms of ecosystem conservation and innovative collaborative efforts among conservation organizations throughout Sonoma County to meet this adaptation challenge. Dr. Micheli is also the Executive Director of Sonoma County's Pepperwood Preserve
Michael Ellis is a renowned naturalist who has lead tours all over the world. He deepens people's understanding and appreciation for the environment with his extensive knowledge of botany, biology and etymology.
John Garn is a specialist in whole system approaches to environmental protection and sustainable development. John has more than 15-years experience working with businesses on regulatory redesign, Green Business Program development, sustainable agriculture, and the development of environmental certification systems. In 2001 John co-authored the Code of Sustainable Winegrowing Practices and has delivered over 100 workshops on sustainable practices, energy efficiency and climate protection to the California wine community since that time. He will discuss climate impacts on the wine industry.
